It’s such a shame that math gets a bad reputation! It’s a beautiful subject that finds order and patterns to make sense of complex things in the world. There’s always more to discover with mathematics—even if the application doesn’t come along until much later. I dove into the Tower of Hanoi puzzle in my undergraduate studies and found some pretty results that were just waiting to be found by someone willing to look, which is really motivating to research and uncover more!

I love playing a role in the aha moments that students have when something clicks and a once daunting problem becomes doable. 

In my free time, I enjoy crafting, puzzles, and playing board games. I also love swing dancing, which has allowed me to connect with people from around the world.

I’m reading the Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi, which is a science fiction novel he wrote during the pandemic. He intended for it to be pure fun to read after the slog of the pandemic and he delivers.
