Tell us about your work:
I am currently pursuing an MS in Biomedical Engineering at CWRU. My thesis is focused on developing an AI model to help doctors diagnose and track the progression of different mental health conditions using voice. I am trying to create an AI model that will be able to listen to a patient’s voice over a period of time, identify characteristic traits of different mental health conditions, and notify doctors and patients.
How did you get into this field?
When I was in high school, I wanted to be a doctor; I even signed up for the health science classes my school offered. In my sophomore year of high school, I took a Project Lead the Way Engineering course and had so much fun! From there, I learned about biomedical engineering and decided it was the perfect way to combine both of my interests. I love helping people and am still medicine-adjacent while being an engineer!
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy playing tennis and hanging out with friends. I also love to play my violin. Reading books and baking are also fun activities I like to do to de-stress.
Why do you enjoy tutoring?
Learning has always been something I enjoy. Helping others experience the joy of learning and seeing their eyes light up when something connects and they can understand a topic is a very rewarding experience! I want to create an environment for others that my teachers created for me, where learning is celebrated and struggling is allowed.
